Basketball Skills & Drills

Looking to stay in-shape during off season? Come practice with us! Our Skills & Drills program covers fundamentals such as: passing, shooting, dribbling, footwork, and conditioning. Our coaches also help develop social skills, teamwork and self-confidence through a mix of hard-work and fun on the court. Let's ball!

Kids Ceramic Class

Do you have a passion for making ceramics? Have you been interested in the making of pottery? We will be using clay or "slip" poured into molds. They will be fired up in a kiln to complete the process of hardening. Then your ceramics will be ready to take home!

Men's Basketball League

Our Kearny Mesa Men's league is just starting up for the first time we are starting with casual a 5v5 games for the men in our community to have their own time to use the inside court regardless of your skill level. Lets work together to grow the league and play some good basketball.

P.L.A.Y. Junior Golf Clinic

Come P.L.A.Y. Golf with our Pro’s! This program provides students the opportunity to get hands-on instruction from PGA Professionals on the fundamentals of golf in a fun and informative way! Our instructors use the SNAG Golf System, an innovative first touch golf system, which provides the perfect introduction on how to play golf, while building up skills and confidence. SNAG allows students to practice full shots, pitching, chipping, and putting right here at Kearny Mesa Recreation Center!

Guitar Lessons

Guitar is a fun and popular instrument to play. These classes are designed to teach beginning students to strum along with favorite songs and to play simpler melodies. Intermediate students will be challenged to continue developing their skills while being introduced to new techniques and more advanced songs. No previous musical knowledge is needed. Students are responsible for providing their own guitar. Both beginning and intermediate students are welcome in either class time.

Vovinam Viet Vo Dao

This program is designed to help build individuals through the instructions and discipline of the Vietnamese Martial Arts. This program offers three levels of instructions: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advance.

The outdoor basketball courts have four (4) courts located (overlapped). Three nets are provided. Users must provide all other equipment.

History of the Center

Kearny Pool opened in 1970, and the Recreation Center opened four years later. The facility is almost 12,000 square feet on over 70 acres.

Directions and Bus Route

Map this location

From Interstate 163 north or Interstate 805 north, take the Mesa College Drive exit and turn left. Follow Mesa College Drive until you see the park at the end of the street. Turn left on Armstrong Street and look for the parking lot.

The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Route 44.
