- The National Household Survey (NHS) tracks progress in personal disaster preparedness through an investigation of the American public's preparedness actions, attitudes, and motivations. Surveys include a nationally representative sample, which may include earthquakes, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, winter storms, extreme heat, tornados and urban events.
