HipHop In Motion

Ballet Folklorico

Come Join for a chance to learn Ballet Folklorico!! Students will learn Mexican Folk dances focusing on regional styles, steps, choreography, and cultural history, while incorporating elements of classical ballet technique.

Neal Petties Mountain View Community Center Events 

History of the Center

Neal Petties Mountain View was dedicated in 1914, making it one of the first parks dedicated in San Diego. People still talk about the great car shows that took place in the park in the 1960s.

The community center is located within Neal Petties Mountain View Community Park, which is named in honor of Neal Petties. Mr. Petties attended San Diego High School, then San Diego City College, going on to play football for San Diego State University (SDSU) Aztecs. He was later drafted into the National Football League (NFL) by the Baltimore Colts. After a successful career in the NFL, Mr. Petties returned to San Diego and worked as a City employee in the Parks and Recreation Department in the 1970's and 1980's serving youth at Neal Petties Mountain View Community Park. He was seen as a positive influence on the youth in the community and acted as a mentor to many. In 2006, he was inducted into the SDSU Aztecs Hall of Fame. On January 16, 2023, Mr. Petties was honored with a lifetime achievement award during a Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration event at the World Beat Cultural Center in Balboa Park.

The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Routes 3, 4, 11 and 955.
