History of the Center
The land where the recreation center is located was acquired by the City on Sept. 3, 1946, and the center was built in 1954. The Pacific Beach Recreation Center was dedicated on March 6, 1975.
Directions and Bus Route
From Interstate 5 north, take the Grand Avenue / Garnet Avenue exit. Turn left on Grand Avenue. Turn right on Gresham Street. Turn right on Diamond Street.
From Interstate 5 south, take the Balboa Avenue / Garnet Avenue exit. Turn right on Garnet Avenue. Turn right on Gresham Street. Turn right on Diamond Street.
The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Routes 8 / 9 and 27.

Facilities
There are two lighted outdoor basketball courts, two lighted tennis courts, a lighted multi-purpose athletic field, a sand tot lot, gymnasiums used for basketball and volleyball, three meeting rooms, a weight room, a game room and a kitchen. Call the center for details.
Santa Clara/Pacific Beach Park and Community Recreation Group
Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. Community members are encouraged to attend! The meeting location alternates between the Santa Clara and Pacific Beach recreation centers. Please call 858-581-9928 to confirm.
