The City Planning Department plays a primary role in coordinating with the California Coastal Commission to ensure land use planning and development regulations are compatible with the California Coastal Act. As part of this process, City Planning staff coordinates submittals to the California Coastal Commission to ensure plans, policies, regulations and development projects are consistent with the Local Coastal Program and the California Coastal Act. City Planning staff also submits amended submittals to the San Diego City Council for approval and to the California Coastal Commission for certification.
