As one of three libraries serving the widespread community of Clairemont, the Balboa Branch Library is located in the eastern part of the community. Originally named Mesa Vista, the library was built on city-owned land and dedicated in October 1971. The library is near several schools and features a special children's area with programs catered to young kids.
