The warmth of the Reading Room provides an inviting environment to visitors of the Wangenheim Room
The Wangenheim Room is designed to resemble a typical 19th century private library. It is decorated with Persian rugs and wood paneling. A Donal Hord sculpture in Mexican rosewood and a terra-cotta horse from the T'ang Dynasty are among the gifts that add to the ambience of the room. The walnut shelves are lined with sets of literature in beautiful leather bindings.
Books may be requested, signed for, and read in the room. Groups interested in meeting in the room for a program based on some phase of the collection can make arrangements by calling (619) 236-5807. The room librarian is always glad to describe the scope of the collection, answer individual questions, and assist with research.
