- Industry incentives
The City of San Diego’s Economic Development Department outlines several of the industry incentives that can help businesses locate here, expand and thrive. The Economic Development Department can assist qualifying businesses with permits, due diligence and applications for the Partial Sales Tax Exemption program, California Competes Tax Credit and the Business Cooperation Program, among others.

- Fictitious Business Names
Any person who regularly transacts business for profit, under a Fictitious Name in the County of San Diego, is required to file a Fictitious Business Name Statement with the Recorder/County Clerk within 40 days of first transacting business.

You must obtain a seller's permit if you are engaged in business in California and intend to sell or lease tangible personal property that would ordinarily be subject to sales tax if sold at retail.
