Testimonials
- I have been in Future Civic Leaders for over two years; it has and continues to help me see the different jobs and the various parts that go into the workings of the City of San Diego. I have been able to attend meetings in-person and online that have given me tips and advice on how to stay organized, how to prepare for college, about different standardized tests such as the PSAT and the PACT, how to stay professional in a formal setting, and more. Through FCL's, I was able to meet the Mayor of San Diego and get CPR certified. These meetings have been very helpful, and I continue to look forward to the events and opportunities in the future.
- Being an FCL has given me countless opportunities to engage with my community, build leadership skills, and learn about my city. I think that it is important for our youth to understand city government, and, accordingly, to know how to get involved in it. With experiences such as work-readiness workshops, volunteering events, and meeting the mayor, the program has provided members with a chance to be active members of their community and grow along the way. Through meetings, we get to learn from those who work for our city and network with people from all types of backgrounds. Hence, I would recommend this program to anyone looking to learn more about how a city operates, be involved in their community, build valuable skills, and form great connections.
