Council President Pro Tem Lee values citizens' participation in developing these priorities so that the final budget better reflects the needs of San Diego communities. Participation in the following survey will help the Committee better evaluate City budgetary priorities.

Check out the timeline below for upcoming important dates related to the budget process.

  • Participate in the Budget Survey below
  • January 9, 2026 - Councilmembers' FY 2027 updated budget priorities memoranda are due to the Office of the IBA
  • April 15 - Mayor releases Proposed Budget

  • April 29 - IBA (Independent Budget Analyst) releases analysis of proposed budget

  • May 4-8 - City departments present their budgets

  • May 4 - 6 PM hearing for public input at City Hall

  • May 13 - Mayor "May Revise" of Budget, IBA releases report on Councilmembers' budget proposed changes

  • May 18 - 6 PM hearing for public input at City Hall

  • May 20 - City Councilmembers submit their final budget modification memoranda to the IBA

  • June 9 - City Council Final Vote on the Budget

  • Attend a District 6 Budget Town Hall on May 7, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Mira Mesa Library, or on May 19, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at GradLabs.

FY 2027 Budget Survey

Our values as a city are reflected in the programs and services the City Council chooses to prioritize and fund. The annual process used to create the budget is an important tool in determining how resources will be prioritized and allocated to meet the diverse needs of San Diego communities.

A crucial step in developing budget priorities is to gather input from as many individuals as possible to ensure the Proposed Budget is responsive to community needs.
