Residential Solar Photovoltaic Systems
Solar photovoltaics (PV) systems can provide affordable electricity to your residence. For existing San Diego homes and businesses that buy their power from SDG&E, solar PV systems are a viable and increasingly attractive method of generating power. Why? Solar PV systems are now more efficient than ever, and rising electric rates, incentive programs and environmental concerns have compelled many San Diegans to think seriously about installing solar PV systems.
Projects for solar PV systems can be processed at the Development Services Department located at 1222 First Ave, 4th floor, San Diego, CA 92101. Many simple residential solar PVs can now be submitted electronically. In addition, the City of San Diego now has a professional certification program where certified contractors can obtain a permit for simple residential solar PV systems without a plan review. For more information about the Professional Certification program, See Information Bulletin 303.
