Renowned for its moderate weather, the City of San Diego is also known for its participation in many arenas of physical fitness. In 1868, the City Park was set aside for future activities and events. Since then, San Diego has sponsored thousands of physical fitness opportunities including construction of Mission Bay and Fiesta Island. Hundreds of City Parks and sponsored competitions reflect the continued focus of a healthy lifestyle for the citizens of San Diego.
