Hosted by La Jolla Town Council
Join us for the inaugural Multicultural Festival by the Sea, a vibrant celebration honoring La Jolla's rich diversity while commemorating the 75th anniversary of the La Jolla Town Council.
Event Highlights
Experience La Jolla's unique character through multiple lenses. Embark on a culinary journey around the world with spiced aromas from bustling street markets and bold flavors that transport you to distant shores.
Discover our legendary surfing culture that has shaped this coastal community for generations, from surfing Windansea waves, big wave surfing the Cove to Boomers Beach famous for body surfing. Immerse in art and photography of La Jolla's unique coastline. Listen to musicians whose melodies capture the rhythm of our waves.
Celebrating 75 years of community building - the La Jolla Town Council was formed by several groups who joined together under the slogan "United For Better Living."
Notable members like Dr. Seuss served as a Council Trustee and drafted a whimsical booklet against signage abuse that helped establish La Jolla's distinctive character. The Council's original home was the old USO Hall on Eads Avenue, now St. James Hall, reflecting La Jolla's rich wartime service history. The US warship named after La Jolla was the USS La Jolla (SSN-701).
Enjoy cultural performances of singing and fashion, and join in line dancing. Take a martial arts class or ballet. Participate in family-friendly activities.
