Since June 2011, the City's one-million-gallon-per-day Pure Water Demonstration Facility has been open for free public tours. Participating in a tour is a great way to learn about the water purification process and get an up-close look at the cutting-edge technology used to clean recycled water to produce safe, high-quality drinking water. You will also find out how the City plans to use the technology to produce 1/3 of San Diegos water supply locally by 2035.

Tours last approximately one hour and include an introductory presentation and a walking tour of the facility. At the end of the tour, participants have the opportunity to taste a sample of the purified water.
