Walter Munk Day ~ Celebrate our Oceans

The Walter Munk Foundation for the Oceans will celebrate our 5 th Annual Ocean Awareness
Day, honoring Walter Munks iconic 80-year legacy of daring exploration and discovery through
scientific research, education, and ocean conservation with a focus on scuba diving. We will
coordinate with Scripps Institution of Oceanography for the American Academy of Underwater
Sciences Symposium, as Walter was one of the first scientific divers and the Founder of the
Scripps Center for Marine Archeology. Neda Iranpour will be back as our distinguished Emcee.
The event will include our traditional Ocean Alley and Kumeyaay Way with interactive,
educational, ocean related exhibits. It promises to be a memorable event with dignitaries, art
and music, face painters, food trucks, and lots of fun for everyone!

Location: Half of the Park starts at the intersection of Camino Del Oro and Vallecitos. Restrooms are adjacent to the Educational Plaza containing THE MAP of the Grand Canyons of La Jolla and the site of the Bronze Sculpture, "From the HEIGHTS of Mt. Soledad to the DEPTHS of the Grand Canyons of La Jolla.
