History of the Center
The land where the center and the park are now located was once owned by the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1967 it was purchased by the City of San Diego and with the help of many community members. The recreation center was officially opened in 1968.
Directions and Bus Route
From Interstate 5 north take the Balboa Avenue exit. Go east to Moraga Avenue. Turn left on Moraga and proceed to Moraga Court. Turn left. Moraga Court will become Avati Road and will curve to the left. The recreation center is on the right.
From Interstate 5 South exit to state Route 52. Take the Regents Road/Clairemont Mesa Boulevard exit and go south up the hill. Turn right on Moraga Avenue. Turn right on Moraga Court. Moraga Court will become Avati Road and will curve to the left. The recreation center on the right.
The recreation center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Routes 27 and 105.
