The site was first acquired in 1961, and the center was built in 1974. It was dedicated on March 6, 1975, and has served approximately 10,000 community members every year since then.
From Interstate 805, take State Route 54 east. Take the Woodman Street exit. Turn left and proceed to Alta View Drive, then turn left. Follow Alta View to Potomac Street and turn right. The recreation center is on the west side of the street.
The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Routes 961 and 962.

Facilities
There is an outdoor multipurpose court, a tot lot and playground for children, a skate park, a walking trail, a comfort station, a picnic area and a community recreation building with a room available for rent. Call the center for details.
Paradise Hills/Penn Community Recreation Group
Paradise Hills Community Recreation Group is looking for new members. Membership is free and open to the public. The Community Recreation Group is an advisory group to the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department.
Meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the Bay Terraces Community and Senior Center, 7445 Tooma Street.
