The San Diego Police Department is applying for a California State Parks and Recreational Law Enforcement Needs for Grant and Cooperative Agreements Program for Off Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation. This grant is requesting funding for equipment, salary and vehicles for education and enforcement for the protected open spaces where Off-Highway vehicles (OHV) are prohibited. The City of San Diego has 372 square miles, (206,124 acres within the City's jurisdiction). The City's planned MHPA totals 56,831 acres targeted for preservation. With many remote locations that have been found to be attractive to illegal OHV activities, a source of numerous complaints. We will be enforcing the California Vehicle Code sections 38000 and other applicable laws regarding the operations of OHV’s.
