Open since 1993, the Carmel Valley Branch Library was designed by Architect Rusty Coombs, featuring open and airy entrances with an outdoor sitting area. Public art is incorporated into the building with Philip Merlin Matzigkeit's friezes and mosaics, and Mary Buckman's bronze sculpture. The large collection and high circulation make this one of the busiest branch libraries in the City of San Diego. The community room is used often for a large variety of functions, including children's, civic and cultural events.
