Public Library
Built to serve the community of University City, the library is appropriately named University Community Library. The 10,000-square-foot facility opened in 1978 to replace a small but heavily used storefront library in a nearby shopping center. Community support for a stand-alone building helped bring this library into existence. Young adult materials are popular at this library, making up almost half of the circulating items. The library offers programs for patrons of all ages, including a monthly concert featuring local music performers and a weekly video game club for youth.
