PRINCIPAL IT AUDITOR

Stephen Gomez joined the Office of the City Auditor as the Information Technology Performance Auditor in September 2008. He previously worked for Johnson Controls, an International Fortune 100 company, as an IT Auditor performing Operational Audits and Sarbanes-Oxley testing both in the US and abroad.  His IT audits included focuses on the effectiveness, efficiency, compliance, and security for data centers, COTS and proprietary internal software, disaster recovery, and ERP systems. Since joining the office, Stephen has led and overseen a wide array of audits utilizing his IT background to incorporate the automated portion of the City’s operations into the standard performance audit process.

Stephen has a Master of Science degree in Cyber Security Operations and Leadership from the University of San Diego, and bachelor degrees in Liberal Arts and Computer Applications and Networking. He has been a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) since 2008 and member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) since 2006.
