Candidate Assistance Mentoring Program (CAMP)

The Candidate Assistance Mentoring Program (CAMP) is designed to prepare potential recruits emotionally, physically and mentally to handle the rigors of the police academy. CAMP?s physical training was shaped by input from the academy?s core trainer. Along with exercising candidates, the officers induce stress by offering up aggressive means of motivation. The candidates are also introduced to formation and command training. CAMP not only allows candidates to prepare for the academy, but creates more opportunities for the background detectives to assess and evaluate potential recruits. An indirect consequence of CAMP is the camaraderie that develops among the candidates and even between the recruiting officers and the recruits. CAMP is offered every Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2pm. Candidates must be in background process to attend.  Please contact the Recruiting Unit for further details, (619) 531-COPS or Email: [email protected].
