Your Safe Place provides free services to adults, seniors, children, and teens who have or are experiencing domestic violence, family violence, elder abuse, sexual assault, or sex trafficking regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, income, zip code, and immigration status.


The Domestic Violence & Sex Crimes Unit handles misdemeanor cases of domestic violence, elder abuse, animal abuse, sexual battery, stalking, and child abuse, including neglect, molestation, and statutory rape.


The City Attorney's Office has led an innovative, first-of-its-kind effort to make aggressive use of California's "red flag law," also known as Gun Violence Restraining Orders (GVROs), which allow authorities to temporarily remove firearms from individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others.


This unit dedicated to ensuring that housing in San Diego is safe, fair, and livable. HPU takes a focused approach to addressing persistent code violations, substandard rental housing conditions, unfair business practices, and situations where there may be a pattern or practice of violating the Tenant Protection Ordinance or the Short-Term Residential Occupancy Ordinance.

This unit was created to pursue public interest causes of action on behalf of the People of the State of California under the Unfair Competition Law, which governs consumer privacy, predatory lending, and unsafe and dangerous products. Through its own litigation and by collaborating with others inside and outside of government, the ACE Unit protects public health and safety, restores environmental quality, and sustains economic vitality.

Worker Protections

The San Diego City Attorney’s Office is dedicated to protecting workers from unsafe conditions, wage theft, and unfair labor practices. Through our Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Unit, we enforce state labor laws and hold employers accountable for violations such as misclassification of workers, unpaid wages, and deceptive business practices. Our efforts aim to ensure that all workers in San Diego receive the protections and fair treatment they deserve.
