HRB Policy Subcommittee January 12, 2015 Meeting Agenda
CITY OF SAN DIEGO HISTORICAL RESOURCES BOARD CITY OF SAN DIEGO HISTORICAL RESOURCES BOARD POLICY SUBCOMMITTEE Monday, January 12, 2015, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Conference Room 5C Development Services Building 1222 First Avenue, 5th Floor, San Diego, CA The Policy Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the City of San Diegos Historical Resources Board. It is primarily composed of Historical Resources Board members who are interested in policy matters. In general, the Subcommittee is not a voting entity, but rather a forum for discussing issues and policy matters related to historic resources and their preservation. Comments at the meeting do not predispose future positions on any matter by the Historical Resources Board. Members of the public will be allowed an opportunity to speak, for up to one minute each, at the end of the Subcommittees discussion on an agenda item. Each member of the public is required to state their name and the organization (if any) that they represent prior to their one minute presentation. MEETING AGENDA 1. Introductions 2. Public Comment (on matters not on the agenda) 3. Issues: 3a. LGBTQ Historic Context: At the October 23, 2014 Historical Resources Board meeting, Mr. Charles Kaminiski addressed the Board during non-agenda public comment to raise the issue of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer (LGBTQ) history in San Diego and the need to identify resources significant to that history. Mr. Kaminiski is interested in the City pursuing a City-wide context statement for LGBTQ history and resources, similar to the efforts of the National Park Service, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Information on these efforts is provided in the Attachments listing below. While no funding for such an effort has currently been secured, the issue is being referred to the Policy Subcommittee for discussion. 4. Adjourn Next Policy Subcommittee Meeting will be on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 3:00 PM.
