1935-36 California Pacific Exposition, Casa de Tempo House

Casa de Tempo house, now located at 1212 Upas Street. It was built for the exposition to showcase modern materials, products and home designs. Visitors participated in a raffle in which the winner agreed to relocate the house from the exposition grounds. Jorge and Alicia Almada won. She was the daughter of General Plutarco Elias Calles, President of Mexico from 1924 to 1928, exiled to the United States in 1936 for his communistic views. He lived in the house for 5 years, and returned to Mexico. The house has changed hands several times since.
