The South Bay Recreation Center Gymnasium is dedicated to the memory of Robert Egger Sr., a dairy farmer, who in 1946 donated the land upon which the park now stands, to ensure the community would have park facilities at that location. Egger died in 1978 after living in and serving the South Bay community for 58 years.
From Interstate 5, take the Coronado Avenue exit and turn west on Coronado, then left on Saturn Avenue. The facility and adjacent parking lot are on the right.
The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Routes 901 and 933/934.
