CicloSDias

Projected Completion: 2027

CicloSDias promotes safe and healthy ways of getting around the city by holding car-free street events. Inspired by CicLAvia in the City of Los Angeles, CicloSDias temporarily closes streets to cars and opens them to community members of all ages and abilities to safely walk, roll and ride. This pilot program includes events in locations throughout the city. These events will help develop a model toolkit that can be used by other organizations who wish to host additional CicloSDias events in the future.

About CicloSDias

The City, in partnership with the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, is running a pilot program partially funded by the Caltrans Active Transportation Program to promote safe and healthy ways of getting around by holding four car-free, open street events in different communities across the city. From 2013 to 2022, and prior to the start of this pilot program, the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition hosted approximately 12 CicloSDias events at different locations throughout the city.

The goal of this CicloSDias Pilot Program is to deliver a toolkit of best practices that other organizations or members of the community could utilize, following completion of this pilot program, to conduct self-funded, regularly recurring car-free street events in the city. The model toolkit will be developed based on lessons learned from holding the four pilot events. The pilot program also includes bicycle safety classes and other educational resources made available to the public during the events.

CicloSDias Event #2 San Ysidro

When: Sunday, October 18, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Where: Event #2 will be held in the San Ysidro community along portions of East San Ysidro Boulevard, Beyer Boulevard and East Hall Avenue to San Ysidro Park, see map below. Streets along this route will be closed to vehicle traffic on 10/18 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
