Accessibility Advisory Board

Public Comment for both non-agenda and agenda items must be submitted using this webform no later than 4:00 p.m. the day prior (Wednesday June 3) in order to be eligible to be read into the record. All comments are limited to 200 words. 

If you wish to submit written materials for submission into the record or have an attachment to your comment, you may send it to [email protected] and it will be distributed to board members in accordance with the deadlines described above.

The public may view the meetings on the City's Public Meetings Live YouTube channel at the time of the meeting.

 

  • The Accessibility Advisory Board typically meets bimonthly on the first Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Civic Center Plaza, 1200 Third Avenue, 4th floor, San Diego, CA 92101. (map and directions to Civic Center Plaza)
  • 2020 Meeting Dates: January 9, March 5, May 7, June 4, July 2, August 6, September 3, November 4.
  • All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Mission Statement

Inspiring and promoting effective solutions to achieve universal accessibility for all.

Duties and Functions

The Accessibility Advisory Board was estiblished to:

  1. Advise the Mayor and City Council on policies and issues relating to accessibility.
  2. Advise the Mayor and City Council regarding City compliance with federal, state, and local disability and access codes, rules, regulations, and laws.
  3. Make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council for improving communications between the disabled community and City government.
  4. Perform accessibility studies and surveys as requested by the Mayor or City Council.
  5. Provide an annual report to the Mayor and City Council detailing the activities and recommendations of the Board.
