The country-like community of Del Mar Mesa consists of over 2,000 acres generally located between Torrey Highlands and Carmel Valley, south of Pacific Highlands Ranch and north of Los Peñasquitos Canyon. Much of the community contains eucalyptus groves dating back to the late 1800s, and the ground beneath them offers cultural artifacts that date to even earlier centuries. Del Mar Mesa has a vast amount of equestrian, biking and hiking trails amid dense chaparral, which preserves a rural and open character for its 618 residents. The area's central development of 32 homes is known as The Preserve.
