Nestled in foothills north of Scripps Ranch and south of Carmel Mountain Ranch, Sabre Springs is home to quiet neighborhoods, rolling hills, business parks and City facilities. On the eastern edge of the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve and north of Miramar Lake, Sabre Springs offers many recreational opportunities to provide residents with the balanced quality of life San Diegans are proud to enjoy.
Once roamed by Native Americans, as time progressed several ranches emerged, mainly operating as cattle ranches. The majority of what is currently the Sabre Springs community was owned by the family of famed swimmer Florence Chadwick, who once set the record for crossing the English Channel. Later the land became the property of the Sabre Petroleum Corporation (via San Diego North Chamber of Commerce).
