Mapping Action Approvals

This approval is required by State law and City Ordinance that the City Land Surveyor review and approve survey documents related to development projects to determine its conformity to the law (such as zoning), its satisfaction of a development condition of approval and its technical adequacy.

Glossary:

Certificate of Compliance is a process defined by the Subdivision Map Act, Section 66499.35 and 66499.34. A Certificate of Compliance is a City certification that a parcel was created in compliance with the Subdivision Map Act and the Land Development Code.

Correction & Amendment of Map is a process defined by the Subdivision Map Act, Section 66469 through 66472. After a Final Map or Parcel Map is filed in the Office of the County Recorder, it may be amended by either a Certificate of Correction through the amended mapping process.

Extension of Time (TM) is a process defined by the Subdivision Map Act, Section 66452. The expiration date of a tentative map may be extended one or more times in accordance with the Subdivision Map Act.

Final Map is a map as defined by the Subdivision Map Act, Section 66426.  A final map is used to subdivide the property into five or more lots or condominium units.

Lot Line Adjustment is a process defined by the Subdivision Map Act, Section 66412(d). A Lot Line Adjustment between four or fewer existing adjoining parcels is required where the land is taken from one or more parcels and added to one or more adjoining parcels, provided that the adjustment would not result in the creation of an additional parcel.

Merger of Parcels is a process defined by the Subdivision Map Act, Section 66451.11.

Parcel Map is a map as defined by the Subdivision Map Act, Section 66425. A parcel map is used to subdivide a property into four lots or less, adjust lot lines of four or fewer parcels, or consolidate four or fewer parcels. It can also be used to create four or fewer condominium units.

Reversion to Acreage is a process defined by the Subdivision Map Act, Section 66499.11 et. seq. This section provides regulations associated with reverting to acreage a previously subdivided parcel of land back into its original configuration.
