Cultural Affairs works with local, regional, national, and international artists to integrate art into San Diego’s built environment and public spaces. Through its Public Art Program, the City posts opportunities for artists to apply for various public art projects on an ongoing basis.
Current Opportunities
2027 - 2029 City of San Diego Poet Laureate
The City of San Diego is seeking applications from interested qualified Artists to provide literary art services for San Diego Poet Laureate Project. An Artist or Artist team is sought to be San Diego’s poet laureate.
- Budget: Approximately $20,000
- Eligibility: An Artist or Artist team residing in the City of San Diego
- Applications due: November 6, 2026 at 4:00 PM local time

Register as a vendor with the City of San Diego to complete an RFQ and/or be notified when opportunities for artists are available. Complete the vendor registration form by following this link: www.planetbids.com/portal/portal.cfm?companyID=17950
To register you will need to:
- Read the Vendor Registration instructions in the User Guide carefully.
- Create a user name and password.
- Have your federal tax ID# or your SSN available.
- Select your Business Category: 96104 Artists (including Digital Artists).
- Receive an email from PlanetBids confirming successful registration access to the site within 24 hours. You will receive notifications of opportunities related to your business category as they become available.
