Otay Truck Route Widening Project Ribbon-cutting Ceremony
January 6, 2011
Mayor Jerry Sanders, Councilmember David Alvarez, U.S Customs and Border Protection, staff from Engineering and Capital Projects Departments, and community members participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to showcase the significant improvements that will aid traffic circulation for the more than 3,000 commercial vehicles that daily use the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. "This ceremony marks the completion of a project that will vastly improve traffic flow at one of the nation's busiest border crossings," said Sanders.
"With the opening of the latest phase of the Otay Truck Route, we are bringing an important piece of infrastructure that will help improve the flow of cross-border commerce and relieve congestion on local roads. Otay Mesa continues to remain an important component for the economic vitality of our region," said Alvarez.
