San Diego Expands Housing and Advances Midway Rising Project

This week’s "From the Mayor’s Desk" highlights major progress on housing. The City released its 2025 Annual Report on Homes showing 8,782 homes permitted in 2024—double the long-term average and over 31,000 permitted since 2021. The Planning Commission unanimously advanced the Midway Rising redevelopment, which includes 4,000+ homes—half affordable—and a new world-class sports arena. San Diego also secured state funding for four Bridge to Home projects, bringing 380 affordable homes closer to reality.
