Mayor Gloria Launches “Ask the Mayor” and Highlights Progress on Housing, Equity, and State Advocacy
- From the Mayor's Desk
In this week’s “From the Mayor’s Desk” newsletter, Mayor Gloria introduces “Ask the Mayor,” a new way for San Diegans to ask questions and get direct answers about City policies, priorities, and decisions. Residents can submit questions by emailing askthemayor@sandiego.gov or by subscribing to the newsletter and voting on which questions should be answered each week. The newsletter also highlights new affordable housing projects in Serra Mesa and San Carlos funded through the City’s Bridge to Home initiative, ongoing advocacy for continued state homelessness funding and efforts to embed equity in every City decision, from budgeting to community investment.
Refining Housing Policies, Enhancing Public Safety, and Advancing Equity
- From the Mayor's Desk
In this week’s "From the Mayor’s Desk" newsletter: Mayor Todd Gloria is taking steps to refine its Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Density Bonus Program to ensure it delivers more housing while addressing community concerns. The mayor and the City Council has also repealed Footnote 7, restoring transparency and public input in land-use decisions in Southeastern San Diego. Plus: Mayor Gloria is backing two state bills to combat human trafficking and improve public safety, alongside coordinated City efforts to enhance conditions in Barrio Logan. A new state bill sponsored by the Mayor, SB 569, would require Caltrans to work with local governments on addressing freeway encampments. The City also remains committed to equity, with millions invested in underserved communities and systemic reforms ensuring fairness in City governance for generations to come.
