The investigation and repairs over the weekend revealed extensive damage requiring the replacement of approximately 40 feet of pipeline. The pipeline needs to be manufactured; therefore, it will be several weeks to complete the repair. The site andsinkhole will be secured, and customers will continue to have water service.

Update Jan. 7, 2023, 11:45 a.m.

City crews are moving forward with welding work on the damaged pipeline and cleanup of the area. It is expected that repairs will be completed early next week. Once the transmission water main is back in service, the temporary water pipeline will be removed.

Update: Jan. 7, 2023, 9:15 a.m.

City of San Diego Public Utilities crews continue to make progress on repairing the transmission water main that broke Friday morning in the Del Mar Heights area. All customers impacted earlier should be back in water service, although some customers may have lower water pressure than normal while work continues.

Update: Jan. 6, 2023, 1:20 p.m.

Water service has been fully restored to most customers impacted by a water main break this morning in Del Mar Heights. A temporary water line is being installed to restore water service and water pressure to the remaining impacted customers late this afternoon. Notices will be delivered to the affected customers on Caminito Mar Villa with recommendations to flush their sinks and toilets. City crews continue to work on repairs to the pipeline. The street is closed near the break areanear the intersection of Del Mar Scenic Parkway and Caminito del Pasaje. Access to a trailhead to Torrey Pines State Park Extension is currently unavailable.

Update: Jan. 6, 2023, 8:30 a.m.

A 24-inch diameter transmission water main broke early this morning near the intersection of Del Mar Scenic Parkway and Caminito del Pasaje. City of San Diego Public Utilities crews shut down the main and are working on repairs. The street has been closed near the break area. More information about the number of customers impacted and an estimated time of repair will be forthcoming and posted on this web page.
