Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP)

The Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) is a benefits program that incentivizes and encourages City employees and volunteers to utilize mass transit and van pools as their primary mode of transportation to and from work. TAP subsidizes the cost of bus, trolley, coaster, and van pools for City employees. TAP is available to all City employees, including volunteers working in a City department.

Staff is currently working remotely to continue providing TAP services. If you need assistance with a TAP pass, you may request an appointment using the TAP Appointment Request form.

Exciting TAP Benefits

  • Online enrollment in TAP through Self-Services (no more traveling to Civic Center Plaza)
  • Convenient payroll deductions with automatic “let it ride” ongoing renewal feature (no more cash, no more remembering to renew your pass each month)
  • Payroll deductions will be made on a pre-tax basis (new tax savings for you)

To purchase a transit pass for the following month, you will need to enroll in the new online TAP system through Self-Services between the 1st and 12th of the current month.
