Holiday Schedule for City Offices and Services
Christmas Day Holiday Observance on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and New Year's Day Holiday Observance on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026
Please note the following impacts on City offices and services:
Trash Collection
Curbside trash, recyclables, and organic waste will NOT BE collected on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, for customers served by the City's Environmental Services Department. Collections will be delayed one day following the holiday. Thursday's normally scheduled collection will occur on Friday, Dec. 26, and Friday's regularly scheduled collection will take place on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025.
After the new year, Thursday's normally scheduled collection will occur on Friday, Jan. 2, and Friday's scheduled collection will take place on Saturday, Jan 3, 2026.
Applicable to residents serviced by the City of San Diego only. Residents not serviced by the City of San Diego or residents of other cities, should check with their waste hauler for holiday service schedules.
The Miramar Landfill, Greenery, Customer Service, Recycling Center and Mattress Collection Site will be CLOSED on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Container sales at 8353 Miramar Place will also be CLOSED. For regular hours and questions, call 858-694-7000.
The Household Hazardous Waste Transfer Facility will be closed to appointments and drop-ins on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, and Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
Parking
NOT ENFORCED on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.

Library
All libraries will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25, and will REOPEN at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.
All libraries will also be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, and on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, and will REOPEN at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

Parks & Recreation
All Golf courses will be OPEN until dusk. Holiday rates will apply.
In addition, Mission Bay Golf Course will CLOSE at dusk on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
All City reservoirs will be CLOSED on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
Chollas Lake will be OPEN, weather permitting.
Mission Trails Regional Park will be OPEN.
Mission Trails Regional Park Visitors Center will be CLOSED on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
All skate parks and the Pacific Highlands Ranch Pump Track at 5977 Village Center Loop Rd. will be OPEN.
Dog off-leash areas will be OPEN.
Public buildings in Balboa Park will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025.
These public buildings will also be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, including:
- Balboa Park Activity Center
- Botanical Building
- Morley Field
- Municipal Gym
Check with individual museums and other park attractions for their holiday schedules.
All City recreation centers and City pools will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and on Thursday, Dec. 25, and will REOPEN on their typical schedule starting Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.

Tecolote Canyon Natural Park will be OPEN.
Tecolote Nature Center will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and will REOPEN on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.
The Nature Center will also be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, and on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, and will REOPEN on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
Open Space, Permit Center and Maintenance Assessment District Offices will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025.
The offices will also be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, and on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
City Offices
All Administrative Offices will be CLOSED on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
The Development Services Department (DSD) and permitting services will be CLOSED on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Normal operations will resume on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
- The department line (619-446-5000) and in-person records will be closed, and virtual appointments will be limited between Friday, Dec. 26, and Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, as well as on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
- Online services will be available, including scheduling inspections, making payments or requesting Building and Land Use Enforcement investigations.
- Check online permit processing timelines for intake, review and permit issuance.
- The Building and Land Use Enforcement line (619-236-5500) will be CLOSED from Friday, Dec. 26, 2025 through Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
The Personnel Department’s Testing and Background/Fingerprinting offices will be CLOSED on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
The Office of the City Clerk will be CLOSED on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, and on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
Passport services will be CLOSED on Thursday, Dec. 25, and on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.

Your Safe Place - A Family Justice Center will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and on Thursday, Dec. 25. The Center will REOPEN on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.
The Center will also be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, and on Jan. 1, 2026. The Center will REOPEN on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
Individuals needing help related to domestic violence should call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-888-385-4657. Anyone experiencing immediate danger or a medical emergency should call 9-1-1.
