April 26, 2004 Proclaimed San Diego Architecture And Engineering Recruitment Consortium Day

Resolution of the City Council, City of San Diego

San Diego Architecture and Engineering Recruitment Consortium Day

Presented by Council member Jim Madaffer

Whereas, the San Diego Architecture and Engineering Recruitment Consortium is a public-private partnership to encourage interest and diversity in engineering and architectural careers through recruitment, guidance, mentoring and support; and

Whereas, the Consortium's membership is entirely voluntary, and united in a common aim, the members of the Consortium set aside their usual competitive attitude and instead work cooperatively towards achieving our goal of increased diversity; and

Whereas, the Consortium has demonstrated considerable community spirit in its mentoring and guidance of San Diego Math Engineering Science Achievement program, as well as its continued professional support of National Engineering Week; and

Whereas, the Consortium has grown from a loosely-knit, informal group of recruitment and diversity enthusiasts into a county-wide volunteer organization with a reputation as an industry group that is dedicated to education, diversity, and recruitment. With continued support and partnership with educators, the Consortium is working on becoming a focal point for diverse engineers and architects recruitment in San Diego; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Diego, that this Council, for and on behalf of said City, acknowledge the commitment to diversity shown by the dedicated member firms of the Consortium and hereby proclaims April 26, 2004, to be "San Diego Architecture and Engineering Recruitment Consortium Day" in the City of San Diego.
