Chess is played by over 600 million people and is the most popular game in the world. The San Diego Public Library recognizes the benefits of chess and offers the following locations where everyone can indulge in this ancient game.

2nd and 4th Thursday: 4 - 5 p.m.
Do you enjoy playing chess or have you always wanted to learn? Chess increases problem solving skills, abstract reasoning, creative and strategic thinking, and pattern recognition. Best of all, it’s fun to play! All ages and levels welcome!

Downtown Chess - 1st floor Library Lobby
Every Thursday & Friday: 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Open to everyone. A dynamic atmosphere that caters to players of all levels. Blitz tournaments are held on a quarterly basis. Downtown Chess is the biggest casual chess club in San Diego!
