Tax Forms

The San Diego Public Library's Central Library (3rd Floor) and the North University Community Library will have limited number of Federal and California State tax forms for the 2016 tax year starting in late January 2017. Due to IRS budget cuts, we will receive fewer IRS forms and instructions, with no schedules or related publications.  

The following branch locations carry State tax forms only:

  • San Carlos Branch Library
  • Scripps Miramar Ranch Library

Tax forms and instructions can also be requested by:

  • California FTB (Franchise Tax Board): 1-800-338-0505 (automated service) or 1-800-852-5711
Paper tax forms and instructions can be ordered from the IRS and FTB websites for delivery by U.S. mail or for faster results, printed or downloaded from their websites.
E-File is a fast and easy alternative to filing taxes by mail and some filers may be eligible to do it for free.  File taxes electronically online by visiting:

  • North Clairemont Branch Library (AARP)
    Only on these dates: February 3rd, March 3rd, March 17th, March 24th, and April 14th

  • North University Community Library (AARP)
    Every Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. | February 9th - April 13th | First come, first served.
    No tax assistance on 3/9 and 3/16 due to library closure for technology upgrades.
  • Pacific Beach Branch Library (AARP)
    Every Monday: 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. | February 6th – April 10th | Must check in by 3:30 PM.
  • Point Loma/Hervey Branch Library (AARP)
    Every Tuesday & Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. | February 7th – April 14th
    Clients may come in on any Tuesday or Friday at the Library and sign in on the sheet for TODAY or sign up for ONE (1) date in the future.
  • Valencia Park/Malcolm X Branch Library
    Every Wednesday: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. | February 1st - March 8th | First come, first served.
