Community Representative

Karla joins the Council District One team as a Community Representative for Pacific Beach. Karla previously served as a Community Fellow at the County of San Diego’s District Four office, as a Legislative Affairs Intern at the County of San Diego’s District Two office, and as an External Affairs Intern at the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom. Karla has also worked as a Research Assistant at the United States Immigration Policy Center and had several advocacy leadership positions throughout her academic career. She is passionate about immigrant and women's rights, as well as supporting underserved communities across Tijuana and San Diego. Karla graduated from UC San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science: International Relations and a Minor in Human Rights and Migration. In her free time, Karla enjoys volunteering with local organizations, spending time with her family, and hiking along the beautiful San Diego coastal trails.
