Events

women shaking hands at meetingThe project team is committed to engaging the public throughout the course of the City of San Diego Disparity Study. BBC Research & Consulting will host various events to help the public understand the purpose of the study and to offer opportunities for the public to submit testimony and comments about their experiences working in the local marketplace and with the City. The events schedule will be updated regularly. Please check back periodically for those updates.

Council Committee Meeting

A preliminary Disparity Study report will be presented to the City Council's Budget and Government Efficiency Committee, which will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at 9 a.m. The agenda will be posted here. Committee meetings are open to the public.

Community Meetings

In partnership with the City of San Diego, BBC hosted four community meetings that were conducted virtually. The details for these meetings are below.

  • Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, 10 - 11 a.m., SLBE/ELBE Industry Meeting (Virtual).
  • Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, 6 - 8 p.m., Citizens Equal Opportunity Commission Monthly Meeting (Virtual).
  • Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Disparity Study Meeting (Virtual)

  • Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Quarterly Construction Industry Meeting (Virtual)

During the community meetings, BBC presented information about the Disparity Study and answered questions. A copy of the presentation can be found PDF iconhere.

During each meeting, the project team gave a presentation describing the Disparity Study, including its purpose, methodology and the study schedule. Following the presentation, attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions and submit verbal or written testimony about their experiences working in the local marketplace and with the City. All comments are being treated confidentially. They will be integrated as part of the project team’s analyses of local marketplace conditions without identifying the sources.
