Public Safety

Police services are not impacted. All public counters are closed until further notice.

Fire-Rescue services are not impacted.

Lifeguard Services are not impacted.



Trash Collection

Curbside trash, recyclables, and yard waste collections are on schedule, but some areas may be impacted.

Applicable to City of San Diego residents only. Residents in other cities should check with their waste hauler for holiday service schedules.

Miramar Landfill is OPEN.

The Miramar Recycling Center is OPEN.

Miramar Greenery is OPEN.

Miramar Place is OPEN for container pick-ups.



Water

The City suspended all water shutoffs as a result of nonpayment. Utilities bills will not be charged interest fees for late or nonpayment.

Parking

Parking rules are enforced for the following:

  • Parking meters
  • Time restrictions for parking on streets
  • Red zones
  • Yellow zones
  • White zones
  • Blue zones

Pay Parking Citation Online

72-hour vehicle parking violation is available to report through Get It Done. Wait times are longer than usual. Report urgent issues by calling Police Non-Emergency at 619-531-2000. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1.



Permits

Building records review is available by appointment only.

Over-the-Counter Services are available by virtual appointments only.

Invoice payments can be dropped off or paid online.

Alarm permits are available.

Parking permits are available.

Special Event permits are available.



Libraries

In-person Library Services are available at 12 library locations.

Book Drops are OPEN.

Library online services are available.

Pickup Services for reserved materials are available at 25 library locations.



Parks & Recreation

Beaches are open. Enforcement of beaches will remain as directed by the County Health Order:

  • Park visitors may sit, lie down, picnic if they practice social distancing
  • All persons on the beach shall practice social distancing other than members of the same household
  • The public shall not congregate or participate in active sporting activities on beaches

Golf courses are OPEN with restrictions.

Community, Neighborhood and Open Space parks are OPEN for passive purposes only (walking, jogging, or hiking) or for members of the same household to congregate in small groups.

Parking lots are fully open to their original capacity throughout the city. 

Select public buildings in Balboa Park are OPEN to the public on a limited basis. Those buildings include several museums. Other public buildings remain CLOSED including:

  • Balboa Park Activity Center
  • Botanical Building
  • Casa del Prado
  • Municipal Gym
  • War Memorial Building

Select Pools are OPEN on limited days and by reservation only.

Recreation centers are CLOSED.

PDF icon Online Registration is open.  Looking for recreation classes? Online program registration is now available at over 50 recreation centers and pools.

All reservoirs and lakes are OPEN during regular business hours. The concessions are CLOSED at all reservoirs due to the Stay-at-Home Order. No rental boats are available during this time. All other recreational activities are allowed during operating hours. 

Skate parks are OPEN.



Streets

In order to allow more safe space for physical distancing, segments of some streets are being opened to people walking, riding bicycles and in wheelchairs. Learn more about Slow Streets

Other City Services

Family Justice Center is still providing critical services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and, sex trafficking. Call 619-533-6000 Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., or the San Diego Domestic Violence Hotline at 888-385-4657 on evenings and weekends. For emergencies, call 9-1-1.

Office of the City Clerk is providing Public Information Center Service in the City Administration Building (CAB) lobby for walk-in service. The City Clerk's Office is accepting summons and subpeonas, appeals, pickup and drop-off of records.

CAB is open to visitors who have prescheduled meetings with City officials. Facial coverings must be worn by everyone entering the building and health screening temperature checks will be in place at the entrance.

Passport Services are offered by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling 619-533-4000 or emailing passportappointments@sandiego.gov.

The Personnel Department's Testing, Employment Information Center and Background/Fingerprinting offices are CLOSED.

Code Enforcement Services are available.
