Miramar Reservoir Recreation Facilities Project
Miramar Reservoir will serve as the storage location for advanced purified water from the North City Pure Water Facility as part of Phase 1 of Pure Water San Diego. After the new Pure Water infrastructure is brought online, the water level in Miramar Reservoir is expected to increase incrementally in early 2027, followed by a gradual increase in the six to 12 months thereafter. Overall, the expected water level rise is about four feet.
Improvements are being made to the existing recreational facilities, including the floating docks, timber walkway, and three fishing piers at the reservoir, to ensure the safety and accessibility of the facilities as the water level rises.
Due to the recreational nature of the Miramar Reservoir, informational kiosks are located near each parking lot with general Pure Water information and construction notices regarding any boat ramp closures, expected construction schedule, and informational updates about the project. Construction vehicles and supplies will require use of the main parking lot at Miramar Reservoir, however recreational access to the reservoir will be maintained throughout construction.
